Peter Falk ist halb russischer und halb ungarischer Herkunft. Im Alter von drei Jahren hat er ein Auge verloren. Für seine Rolle als Lastwagenfahrer im Film "Price of Tomatoes" bekam er einen Emmy und drei andere für seine Rolle als Columbo. 1960 wurde er für einen Oskar für seine Rolle als Schauspieler im Film "Murder, Inc." nominiert und 1961 für den Film "Pocketful of Miracles". 1972 gewann er einen Tony für "The Prisoner of Second Avenue".
